Westerners and the Locals Christmas Gathering

Here in Dumaguete City, it is very common to see couples or partners which are Filipinas and other races like the Westerners. I am staying in an apartment and my neighbors are mostly Filipinas and Westerners as couples. Last Christmas, we had a gathering and it was fun to party with all of them. We prepared gifts for each other and shared foods. We really had fun specially during games. The photos below are the ones I took during that night.



These are the group of guys who joined the party. Some of them are born Filipinos but grew up in the States. Most of these guys on photo are from the US only few are from other countries like Belgium or Germany.



This photo was taken during the fun time. We were playing the game called Trip to Jerusalem where the guys are sitting and girls will go around them while dacing with the music. Once the music stops, the girls should look for a chair and whoever didn't find one is out.



This one is a photo of my neighbor and her fiance who is from Belgium. I am the one wearing orange behind the two of them. They look sweet.

Filipinas and Aliens Meet Halfway

I looked up the net this morning for dating and I saw many results. It just amazed me how many social networking are hosting interracial dating. I saw black and white dating, black women white men, black men white women, Latino, Asian etc. I bet it is no longer a taboo to this new age to date with other races and that is proven by these Social Networkings. Our generation is getting more open to this kind of dating and it seems that different races want to explore each other and meet halfway. Unlike in the old times, intermarriage was not allowed, you cannot marry an alien because it is not your own blood. Well the issues about the differences in race and culture are now becoming less concern of many as people learn and adopt from each other. Racism used to be big but now we start to be more open minded and embrace each other’s differences.

Like here in the Philippines, it is becoming common to see Filipinas and other races to date around. Well, the mixed of Filipino blood and westerner as an example is not really bad. In fact kids here with mixed blood are more famous in school and other kids admire them. I’ve walk around the boulevard in Dumaguete City and I’ve seen different races dating Filipinas. These races are mostly Americans, Britons, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Australians and other Arabs too. I was actually surprised because I just recently moved to this City and it’s such a place where 'anyone can go around with anyone' and that’s really cool. I was in the rastaurant called Chin Long just chasing around and took few pictures of the boulevard and accidentally captured these two aliens walking. Check the photos below.

Filipina girls in General are now more oriented with other cultures. One good thing about this country is that the majority understands and speaks English language. So language barrier is not really a big thing. It is very important in a relationship or in dating to have a good communication. We tend to know the person and dig deep inside by his or her words and actions. If there’s a language barrier it is hard to really express yourself, you’d be like two people walking in the dark. That is probably one good reason why Filipina and other races meet halfway.

Dating a Filipina

Are Filipina’s hot? This is a question that I asked myself sometimes when I see dating sites that full of westerners looking for a Filipina date. Majority of them look for a Filipina. I also noticed the same thing in any chat room. I wonder if there’s something about a Filipina or it has something to do with being Asian. Many foreigners thought that Filipinas are easy to get or probably after their pockets. I wonder why these westerners that have that kind of thinking still pursue in hunting a Filipina date or wife. No one would want anybody to be with someone who is after your pocket. But with all of these rumors, I see hundreds of them still marrying or dating Filipinas and they look happy. I thought about this many times and I wouldn’t believe that they allow themselves for that situation where these girls take advantage on them. I finally then realized that it is not really true.

There are so many things that I observed why these foreigners visit the Philippines to date Filipinas aside from touring around. One truth that I heard from several westerners that I’ve talked to is that Filipinas are more domesticated than western women. They are more oriented in taking care of kids, good housekeeping, budgeting, being more touchy and affectionate and being submissive as a wife. Another factor is that Filipinas keep relationship due to the fact that divorce is not allowed in this country. With that, we learn how to maintain the relationship and hold on to it through ups and downs and keep the family ties.

Filipinas, compared to western women are more reserved in any aspect. They are a little more conservative as to fashion. Considering that westerners are more advanced countries, it also applies to the people. There are few Filipinas specially in the province who would spend their time watching Fashion TV or get the most updated magazines to look for the trend and fashion. An average Filipina wife would go to work or stay home to do the household chores and take care of kids. They also watch the television and spend time to chat with friends or neighbors unlike westerners; they would go to work, go on shopping till they drop, spend hours in the parlor, attend social activities, read their fashion magazines, spend time on the internet and do households to. There is actually nothing wrong with each of them. One has advantage to the other and vice versa.

Another important thing that I think is that probably the skintone of westerners and Asians are attractive for each other. When a Filipina see a white guy passing by, she couldn’t help to stare and same way as the other. But most white guys wonder why Filipinos in general love to stare which is rude for some. Filipinos don’t mean to stare at all and be rude but because white is attractive and different, they couldn’t help to stare. On the other hand, westerners in majority love to get a more brown skin. Most of them would expose themselves under the sun just to acquire that tan skin. With all of these, it makes both attractive to each other. Also, Filipinos have average size built with regard to physical aspect and westerners are taller or a little bigger. With bigger guys, they would
find it hot for a woman to be petite. They find it cute and sexy and they feel manlier that they are taller and bigger. So that probably explains it a little better.


The myth that Filipinas are after money is true but not only to Filipinas but also to any race and country in the world. You go to Europe, Asia, Australia or any other continents; you will always find or see these types of people or women to be specific. Yes, Philippines is not economically rich as to western countries but the people are raised here in values. Probably, those foreigners who meet girls that is after their pockets are also those guys who are not looking for a lasting relationship. The fact is, if you got the right motive then you will go to the right place and to the right person for a date. So I wish that these bad rumors will not be generalized by people for the sake of the morals of Filipina women. I myself is a Filipina and to think that my face looks like a dollar sign to foreigners is too much for my pride and morals. To Filipinas, let’s not allow ourselves to be branded as such and to westerners let’s respect others and that’s what we will get in return.
